Replacements

Listings that take over the same core job as GSConnect.

  • KDE Connect

Links a phone and a computer to share files, links, notifications and remote controls.

KDE Connect is the original project whose protocol GSConnect implements, built around the KDE desktop rather than integrating into GNOME Shell.

  • Valent

A GTK desktop app that connects your computer and phone over the KDE Connect protocol.

Valent is a standalone GTK desktop app using the KDE Connect protocol, rather than a GNOME Shell extension, and still needs a KDE Connect app on the phone.

  • Pushbullet

A service that links phones and computers for sending pushes, sharing files and mirroring SMS.

Pushbullet is a proprietary service that sends pushes, files and SMS between Android and Windows, Mac or the web, relying on Pushbullet's servers instead of a local link.

  • Join

An app for sending links, files and notifications between an Android phone and other devices.

Join is a paid app that pushes links, files, notifications and clipboard from Android to Windows, macOS, Linux and browsers, with an API for Tasker.

  • AirDroid

A service for transferring files between Android phones and computers and controlling devices remotely.

AirDroid moves files between Android and computers and adds remote control, but it relies on the company's hosted service and is closed source.
