About BRL-CAD
BRL-CAD models solids by combining primitives with boolean operations and includes ray tracing, geometric analysis, image and signal processing tools and a scripting interface. Originally developed at the US Army Research Laboratory, it has been in continuous development since 1979 and open source since 2004.
