About Brunch

Brunch creates a ChromeOS image that boots on ordinary x86_64 PCs, starting from an official ChromeOS recovery image. It adds a 1GB ROOTC partition containing a custom kernel, an initramfs, swtpm binaries and userspace patches.

It supports Intel CPUs and GPUs from the 10th generation onward and AMD Ryzen. It suits people who want official ChromeOS rather than a ChromiumOS fork on a PC they already own.

Strengths

  • Runs official ChromeOS on unsupported x86_64 PCs
  • Built from an official recovery image
  • Supports recent Intel and AMD Ryzen hardware

Limitations

  • Limited to Intel 10th gen or newer and AMD Ryzen
  • Unofficial project not supported by Google
  • Setup is more involved than a normal installer
