About CalTopo

CalTopo is a mapping and planning tool for backcountry travel. It works in a browser and in mobile apps for Android and iOS. You can stack layers such as slope angle shading, snow depth from SNOTEL stations, daily satellite imagery, stream gauges, weather forecasts by elevation and public land boundaries. You can also print maps and record tracks.

Several people can edit the same map at once, and changes appear for everyone in real time. It also offers location sharing, connects to GPS devices and carries maps offline on a phone. It suits hikers, skiers and search and rescue teams planning routes in detail.

  • Slope angle, snow depth, weather and public land layers
