About Cap
Cap records your screen, camera and microphone and gives you two modes. Instant Mode uploads while recording, so a shareable link exists the moment you stop, which is the thing Loom is used for. Studio Mode records locally and gives you a proper editor with backgrounds, zooms, trimming, captions and export controls.
The part that distinguishes it is storage. You can use Cap Cloud, connect your own S3-compatible bucket, keep recordings entirely local, or self-host the whole platform, which matters for anything sensitive. Sharing can be public, private, password protected or on your own domain.
It has desktop apps for macOS and Windows and a web dashboard for viewing and managing recordings, with comments, reactions, transcripts and analytics for team use.
