d8a (Divine Data) is an open-source analytics platform compatible with the Google Analytics 4 and Matomo tracking protocols, so existing tags can send data to it without changes. It can run alongside GA4 as a backup or transition path, and has its own beta web tracker as a drop-in replacement for gtag.js.
Data is stored in a flat, reporting-ready schema with sessions calculated on the backend, and written to BigQuery, ClickHouse, or CSV and Parquet files on S3, GCS or a local filesystem. It can be self-hosted or used through a free EU-hosted cloud.
Strengths
- Works with existing GA4 and Matomo tags
- Writes to BigQuery, ClickHouse or Parquet files
- Flat schema that is easy to query
- Can import historical GA4 BigQuery exports
Limitations
- Aimed at teams with a data warehouse rather than casual site owners
- Native web tracker is still in beta
