About Dangerzone
Dangerzone opens an untrusted PDF, Office document or image inside a sandboxed container with no network access, renders every page to pixels and rebuilds a new PDF from those images, discarding macros, scripts and embedded objects. Text can optionally be restored with OCR.
Strengths
- Active content cannot survive, because only pixels come out of the sandbox
- Optional OCR keeps the result searchable
Limitations
- Output loses the original text layer unless OCR is used, and formatting fidelity drops
- Requires a container runtime and is slow on large documents
