About DD-WRT
DD-WRT is replacement firmware for consumer routers. You install it in place of the manufacturer's firmware to get features that stock router software often leaves out, including VPN support, quality of service (QoS) controls for prioritising traffic, and more advanced routing options.
It suits home and homelab users who want more control over an existing router without buying dedicated networking hardware. Before installing, check that your router model is supported, because replacing router firmware carries some risk to the device.
