FarOut, formerly Guthook Guides, is a mobile app for long-distance trails such as the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail. It offers more than 250 trail guides made by thru-hikers, with offline GPS maps, elevation profiles and waypoints for water, campsites and other key points.
Users post real-time trail updates as comments, and you can create custom routes and waypoints and track your trip. Guides are bought individually or through a subscription, with part of some proceeds going to partner trail organisations.
