About FormatFactory

FormatFactory converts video, audio and image files one at a time or in large queues, showing live progress, ETA and estimated output size. It ships presets for common devices and sites, and a profile builder gives full control over the conversion command.

Each file can be trimmed with a preview, cropped, rotated or flipped. Further tools cover deinterlacing, denoising and colour adjustment, burned-in or soft subtitles, replacement audio tracks, loudness normalization, metadata and cover art, and watermarks. It is a Linux build from Ktechpit and is a different program from the Windows converter of the same name.

Strengths

  • Batch queue with progress, ETA and output size estimates
  • Device and site presets plus a custom profile builder
  • Per-file trimming, cropping, filters and subtitle handling
  • Loudness normalization and metadata and cover art editing

Limitations

  • Linux only
  • Flathub lists the license as proprietary despite open-source claims on the site
  • Shares its name with an unrelated Windows converter
