About ggsql
ggsql lets you write a normal SQL query and add clauses such as VISUALISE, DRAW, SCALE and LABEL after it to produce charts. Supported charts include scatter plots, line charts, pie charts, box plots and density plots. The approach is based on the Grammar of Graphics, so existing SQL knowledge carries over.
It ships as a command-line tool installable with cargo and as a Jupyter kernel installable from PyPI. The project is in beta, and many parts are still being worked out.
Strengths
- Charts declared directly in SQL, no separate plotting tool
- Composable Grammar of Graphics model
- Available as a CLI and a Jupyter kernel
Limitations
- Beta software with parts still changing
- Young project with a small body of examples
