GitHub Copilot is GitHub's AI coding assistant. It suggests lines and whole functions as you type and can take on larger coding tasks as an agent. It works inside Visual Studio Code, in a standalone Copilot app for macOS, and in the terminal through Copilot CLI.
It needs a GitHub account and runs on GitHub's hosted models, so it suits developers who already keep their work on GitHub and are comfortable sending code to a cloud service.
