Gitit is a wiki program written in Haskell that keeps every page and uploaded file in a Git repository. Pages can be edited through the web interface or directly with Git and ordinary command-line tools, and the full history is kept as commits.
Rendering is handled by pandoc, so pages can be written in the markup formats pandoc understands. A plugin system allows extra behaviour. It suits people who already work with Git and want their wiki content in a plain, versioned repository.
Strengths
- Pages stored in Git, editable outside the wiki
- Pandoc rendering with support for several markup formats
- Plugin system for extensions
Limitations
- Building from source needs the Haskell toolchain
- No published GitHub releases
- Plain interface compared with newer wikis
