GitUI
A terminal interface for git that is fast on huge repositories and controlled entirely from the keyboard.
These buttons open the developer's own site, repository or store listing in a new tab. wares.gg does not host downloads.
About GitUI
GitUI gives you the comfort of a git GUI inside a terminal. You stage and unstage files, hunks and individual lines, inspect diffs, write and amend commits with hooks running properly, manage stashes and branches, and browse history, all with keyboard-only control.
Its help is context-based, so it shows the keys relevant to what you are doing rather than expecting you to memorise a table. It is written in Rust with unsafe code forbidden, and speed on large repositories is an explicit design goal, with published benchmarks against the alternatives.
Strengths
- Stage, unstage, revert and reset by file, hunk or individual line
- Context-based help, so you are not memorising dozens of hotkeys
- Fast on large repositories, which is an explicit design goal
- Runs commit hooks properly, including pre-commit and commit-msg
Limitations
- Terminal only; there is no graphical window
- Some less common git operations still need the command line
- Interactive rebase support is limited compared with a full GUI
- Releases are occasional
