About Gram

Gram is a source code editor and IDE that began as a hard fork of the Zed editor. It removes AI features, subscriptions and telemetry, and aims for stability and reliability over new features, with built-in support for many popular languages.

The goal is an editor a beginner can install and use without configuration or extensions. It is largely maintained by one developer in spare time with a small group of contributors, and is hosted on Codeberg. Binaries are available for macOS and Linux.

Strengths

  • No AI, telemetry or subscriptions
  • Built-in language support with no setup needed
  • Based on the fast Zed editor core

Limitations

  • No Windows build
  • Small team, described by its author as a work in progress
