About hcledit
hcledit reads HCL from standard input and writes results to standard output, making it suitable for shell pipelines and scripts. It can get, set, move, append, and remove attributes and blocks, as well as format HCL.
It supports HCL2 rather than HCL1 and does not depend on a particular HCL application or schema. The project originated in Terraform configuration refactoring but can be used with other HCL files.
Strengths
- Edits HCL through standard input and output
- Preserves comments during token-based edits
- Works without a specific application schema
