About hledger
hledger keeps your accounts in a plain text journal file. Each transaction is a few lines you can read, edit in any editor, put in version control and still open in forty years. On top of that it implements real double-entry accounting, multi-currency, with a robust and well-specified engine accurate to 255 decimal places.
It tracks money, investments, cryptocurrencies, invoices, time and inventory, imports and exports CSV well, and outputs text, HTML, JSON and SQL. There are several interfaces: a command line, a terminal UI, a web interface, mobile options and editor integrations.
It is fast, analysing around 25,000 transactions per second, has complete built-in documentation with beginner videos and tutorials, and is backed by the wider Plain Text Accounting community. Learning it is also a good way to learn double-entry accounting, which is both the appeal and the barrier.
