About Lakka
Lakka is a community-driven, open-source Linux distribution that turns a small computer such as a Raspberry Pi, or a low-end PC, into a dedicated emulation console. You install it to an SD card or USB flash drive, copy your ROMs onto the device, plug in a joypad and play.
It is built on RetroArch, so it inherits features such as automatic joypad recognition, rewinding, netplay and shaders. It is optimized to run on inexpensive hardware and supports many USB joypads.
Strengths
- Built on RetroArch with netplay, rewind and shaders
- Automatic joypad recognition
- Runs well on low-cost hardware such as a Raspberry Pi
Limitations
- Tied to RetroArch's interface and cores
- Runs as a dedicated system rather than an app on a desktop
- You must supply your own games
