About Microsoft Graph PowerShell
Microsoft Graph PowerShell provides cmdlets for managing identities and automating administrative tasks across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra through the Microsoft Graph API. It is the replacement for the older Azure AD PowerShell module, and Microsoft publishes migration guidance and a cmdlet map.
Helper commands such as Find-MgGraphCommand and Find-MgGraphPermission help locate cmdlets and the permissions they need. It supports app-only authentication for unattended scripts and covers tasks such as assigning Entra roles in PIM and granting API permissions. Both v1.0 and beta cmdlet sets are available.
Strengths
- Official Microsoft module covering the Graph API
- Replaces the retired Azure AD PowerShell module
- Commands to discover cmdlets and required permissions
- Supports app-only authentication for automation
Limitations
- Large module with a steep learning curve
- Graph permissions must be granted before cmdlets work
