About OpenSCAP
OpenSCAP is a collection of open source tools that implement the Security Content Automation Protocol, the NIST standard for describing security configuration checks. Administrators install OpenSCAP Base or the graphical SCAP Workbench, choose a policy, adjust its settings and evaluate a system against it.
The project also provides community-developed hardening guides and configuration baselines. OpenSCAP received SCAP 1.2 certification from NIST in 2014.
