OPNsense is a firewall and routing platform that you install on a dedicated machine to protect a network. It provides a stateful firewall and networking services, and you manage it through a web interface.
The project is developed with a large user community and releases new versions regularly. Version 26.7, Xenial Xenops, is built on FreeBSD 15.1 and brings changes to interface management, firewall architecture and networking services. Documentation and a user forum are available. It suits home lab users and small organisations that want a capable firewall without a commercial licence.
