About OPS
OPS is a unikernel compilation and orchestration tool from NanoVMs. It takes an ordinary Linux binary or a prebuilt package, such as a Node.js runtime, and turns it into a Nanos unikernel that boots as a small, single-purpose virtual machine on a local host or in a public cloud.
It installs with a shell script, and packages can be loaded with a single command that also maps ports. NanoVMs sells commercial support plans for teams that need them.
Strengths
- Runs unmodified Linux binaries as unikernels
- Small images with fast boot times
- Package system for common runtimes like Node.js
- Targets local hosts and public clouds
Limitations
- Unikernels run a single application, which does not suit every workload
- Command-line only
