About Owncast
Owncast is a self-hosted alternative to streaming platforms. It runs on your own server and accepts video from standard streaming software over common protocols, then serves the stream to viewers in a browser with no subscriptions, viewer limits or forced ads.
Real-time chat is built in, with moderation tools, custom emotes and user authentication, so no third-party chat service is needed. Owncast now supports custom plugins, and a stream can be as private or public as you choose.
