About PairDrop
PairDrop sends files and text between devices from a browser tab, discovering others on the same network or pairing by a code across networks, using WebRTC so transfers go directly between devices where possible. It can be self-hosted.
Strengths
- No app, no account; both sides just open a page
- Pairing codes make transfers work across different networks
Limitations
- Connections may fall back to a relay when direct peer-to-peer fails
- Both devices must have the page open at the same time
