About Pelias
Pelias turns addresses and place names into coordinates and coordinates into nearby places and addresses. It is built on Elasticsearch and powered entirely by open data, with importers for OpenStreetMap, OpenAddresses, Who's On First, GeoNames, polylines and custom CSV files.
It is made of separate services, including an API, a placeholder service, point-in-polygon lookup and address parsing via libpostal, and a Docker setup is provided for local installation. It suits developers and organisations who want a self-hosted search engine for places.
