About Piped
Piped presents YouTube through its own lightweight interface with SponsorBlock, subscriptions without an account and optional proxying of the video streams themselves, so the origin never sees the viewer's IP address. It can be self-hosted.
Strengths
- Optional stream proxying hides the viewer from YouTube entirely
- SponsorBlock and subscriptions without any account
Limitations
- Proxying costs the instance operator significant bandwidth
- Public instances are often rate limited
