Pixie runs inside your Kubernetes clusters and uses dynamic eBPF probes to collect metrics, events, traces and logs without changes to application code. Data stays in the cluster rather than being shipped to an external service.
You explore it through a browser view called Live, or through the px command-line tool for health checks and charts. PxL scripts, written by your team or the community, let you debug as code. Install guides cover Minikube, EKS, GKE, AKS and self-managed clusters.
Strengths
- No code instrumentation needed thanks to eBPF
- Telemetry stays inside your cluster
- Scriptable debugging with shareable PxL scripts
- CLI and browser interfaces
Limitations
- Only for Kubernetes environments
- Requires suitable kernel and cluster setup
