About Prometheus Alertmanager
Alertmanager receives alerts sent by client applications such as the Prometheus server and decides who hears about them. It removes duplicates, groups similar alerts into a single notification, and routes them to receivers such as email, PagerDuty, OpsGenie or a webhook.
It also handles silencing, so known issues stay quiet during maintenance, and inhibition, which suppresses alerts that are only symptoms of a larger failure. Rules are defined in a configuration file. It suits anyone running Prometheus who needs alerts delivered without floods of pages.
