About RadeonTop
RadeonTop is a small top-style program that shows how busy an AMD Radeon GPU is. It reports total activity as a percentage and breaks usage down by individual hardware blocks, which helps you see what part of the GPU a game or workload is loading.
It supports cards from the R600 generation onward and can dump readings for logging. It needs access to /dev/dri/cardN or /dev/mem, which may mean running it as root.
Strengths
- Per-block GPU utilization, not just a total
- Lightweight terminal interface
- Supports a wide range of Radeon generations
Limitations
- AMD Radeon GPUs only
- May need root privileges
- Linux only

amdgpu_top also targets AMD GPUs on Linux but adds per-process usage, clocks and sensors, graphical as well as terminal views, and JSON output for scripting.
nvtop
Watch GPU activity in a terminal interface.
nvtop shows GPU activity in a terminal for multiple supported accelerators and also runs on macOS, though available metrics depend on the GPU and installed driver.
LACT
A Linux application for configuring and monitoring AMD, Nvidia and Intel graphics cards.
LACT covers AMD, Nvidia and Intel cards with a graphical interface plus CLI, and adds GPU tuning through a background daemon, which carries some hardware risk.
