About Sentry CLI

Sentry CLI, run as sentry-cli, connects to the Sentry API to manage data for your projects. It is mainly used in CI/CD pipelines and build processes to create and manage releases, upload source maps, and handle debug information files for iOS and Android so crash reports can be symbolicated.

It can also send test events, manage code mappings, work with logs and monitor cron jobs. Sentry also offers a newer interactive developer CLI for issue management, which is a separate tool.

Strengths

  • Uploads debug files and source maps from build pipelines
  • Release management from the command line
  • Can send events and cron check-ins for testing and monitoring

Limitations

  • Only useful with a Sentry project
  • Aimed at build automation rather than interactive use
