The Serverless Framework is a CLI, installed with npm, for building applications on AWS Lambda. You define functions and the events that trigger them, and the framework deploys APIs, scheduled tasks, workflows and event-driven apps to AWS. Version 4 can also deploy MCP servers to Lambda.
It covers development, troubleshooting and collaboration on serverless applications, and includes a setup command that installs an agent skill for AI coding agents. It is free for individuals and small teams. It suits developers building on AWS who want infrastructure described in configuration rather than set up by hand.
