About Sideband
Sideband is an LXMF messaging client for Android, Linux and macOS that carries messages, voice calls and files over Reticulum networks, which may run on LoRa, packet radio, WiFi, I2P or anything else Reticulum supports. It works without internet access.
Strengths
- Messages travel over radio links with no internet or cellular service
- Store-and-forward delivery, so both parties need not be online at once
Limitations
- Requires a Reticulum network, and usually radio hardware, to be useful
- Small project with a niche user base
