About Speedometer

Speedometer 3.1 measures how responsive a browser is when running web applications. It drives demo apps through simulated user actions, such as adding to-do items, and times the work. It is maintained by major browser engine developers under an open governance model.

The viewport should be at least 850 by 650 pixels for accurate results. After a run it shows an aggregate score and detailed per-test metrics, which can be copied or downloaded as JSON or CSV for further analysis.

Strengths

  • Maintained jointly by major browser engine developers
  • Simulates realistic interactions in real web app frameworks
  • Detailed results exportable as JSON or CSV

Limitations

  • Needs a viewport of at least 850 by 650 pixels
  • Focuses on responsiveness rather than graphics or loading speed
