About Squashfs-tools
Squashfs-tools is the official set of tools for SquashFS, a compressed read-only filesystem used for live CDs, embedded systems and application images. mksquashfs packs a directory into a SquashFS image and unsquashfs extracts or lists the contents of one.
The latest release is 4.7.5, and many Linux distributions package it. It suits anyone building firmware, live images or compact read-only archives on Linux.
