About SubGit
SubGit is a tool for teams moving from Subversion to Git. It is installed on the Git server, where it reads the settings of a remote SVN repository, downloads its revisions and converts them into Git commits.
After the initial import it keeps a two-way mirror. Commits pushed to Git are converted and sent to SVN, and new SVN revisions are pulled in as they appear. SVN and Git users can therefore work side by side during a gradual migration. SubGit also works with GitLab servers and runs on all major platforms.
Strengths
- Two-way sync between SVN and Git repositories
- Allows a gradual migration with both systems in use
- Works with GitLab as well as plain Git servers
- Prevents conflicts between the two systems to keep the mirror intact
Limitations
- Must be installed and run on the Git server
- Proprietary licence
