syncBackup puts the common rsync options behind a simple interface. It uses rsync's delta-transfer algorithm to send only the changed parts of files, and a quick check on size and modification time to find what needs copying.
Source and destination folders and settings can be saved as separate profiles. You can exclude files and folders, choose how ownership, group and permissions are handled, recreate symlinks, decide whether newer destination files are kept, and make the destination a mirror image of the source.
Strengths
- Simple interface over rsync's delta transfers
- Saved profiles for different backup jobs
- Exclusions and control over permissions and symlinks
- Mirror mode keeps the destination identical to the source
Limitations
- Linux only
- No built-in versioning beyond what rsync copies
