About Tor Browser
Tor Browser routes traffic through three volunteer-run relays before it reaches a website. The site sees the last relay, not you, and your internet provider sees a connection to the Tor network rather than the pages you opened. It is the reference tool for reporters, researchers and anyone browsing from a country that filters the web.
The browser also fights fingerprinting, which is why it looks plain: fixed window sizes, no custom fonts, and letterboxing when you resize. Adding extensions or maximising the window makes you more identifiable, so the project asks you not to.
