About Veusz

Veusz builds a graph by combining widgets: a page holds a graph, the graph holds axes and plotting widgets, and each has properties you set in a panel. That structure is unusual and takes getting used to, but it makes complex multi-panel figures reproducible and adjustable in a way that clicking around a chart tool does not.

It covers what scientific plotting needs: X-Y plots with error bars, function and line plots, contour plots, images with colour mappings and colourbars, stepped plots for histograms, bar graphs, vector field plots, box plots, polar plots and 3D plots. Output is designed for PDF or SVG at publication quality.

It offers GUI, Python module, command line, scripting, DBUS and SAMP interfaces, so the same figure can be produced by hand or generated from a script, and it can import and manipulate datasets, including capturing data from network sockets or other programs.
