About Wan2GP

Wan2GP generates video and images on your own computer with open models. It supports Wan 2.1 and 2.2, LTX-2, LTX Video, Hunyuan Video, Qwen Image and Flux. The project targets people with modest graphics cards, described as the "GPU poor", and uses memory profiles to fit models onto smaller GPUs.

It started as a fork of Wan-Video/Wan2.1 and has grown to include plugins, preprocessing and postprocessing tools, and a Dockerfile.

Strengths

  • Runs several open video models from one app
  • Aimed at GPUs with limited video memory
  • Also supports image models such as Flux and Qwen Image
  • Plugins plus preprocessing and postprocessing tools

Limitations

  • Video generation is still slow on modest hardware
  • Requires large model downloads and a Python setup

Alternatives to Wan2GP

Compare all

Software that can replace Wan2GP for an important use case, and what changes if you switch.

  • ComfyUI

Construct AI generation workflows with a visual node graph.

ComfyUI is GPL-3.0 open source and builds generation workflows as visual node graphs on Windows, macOS and Linux, trading a simple app for more setup.

  • FramePack

Local image-to-video generator that predicts frames progressively so it runs on consumer GPUs.

FramePack is Apache-2.0 open source and turns still images into video on consumer GPUs through a Gradio interface, but it focuses on image-to-video and updates infrequently.

  • Wan 2.2

Open, advanced large-scale video generation model for local use.

Wan 2.2 is the Apache-2.0 video model used directly through scripts and community integrations, with no official end-user GUI and heavy GPU memory needs for larger variants.

  • LTX-2

Open local video model that generates synchronized audio and video.

LTX-2 is a local video model that generates synchronized audio with video and ships a LoRA trainer, but it has no app-style interface and needs large downloads.

  • Mochi 1 (Genmo)

Open state-of-the-art video generation model from research lab Genmo.

Mochi 1 is an Apache-2.0 open video model usable on consumer GPUs through ComfyUI, though its repository shows no activity since late 2025.
