About Windows Server Update Services
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is a server role in Windows Server. IT administrators use it to manage how Microsoft product updates from Microsoft Update reach the computers on their network. It applies to Windows Server 2016 through 2025 and to Windows 10 and 11 clients.
Microsoft has deprecated WSUS and is adding no new features. It remains supported for production deployments and still receives security updates. It suits organisations that already run it on premises.
