About YAMLlint

YAMLlint is a simple web page for checking YAML. You paste in a document and click Go, and it tells you whether the YAML is valid. If it is, the page returns a clean UTF-8 version of it.

Two options change the output. One reformats the document, which strips comments, and the other resolves aliases. The site says it is optimized for Ruby on Rails, so it suits quick checks of config and fixture files.

Strengths

  • Paste-and-check workflow with no setup
  • Returns a cleaned UTF-8 version of valid YAML
  • Can resolve aliases in the output

Limitations

  • Reformatting strips comments
  • No schema or style rules, only syntax checking
