About Zonemaster
Zonemaster examines a domain from the DNS root down through the top-level domain to its authoritative name servers. It runs many tests, including DNSSEC signature checks, reachability of name servers and IP address validity, and produces a report that helps fix the problems it finds.
It was developed by AFNIC and IIS as a rewrite of their older DNSCheck and Zonecheck tools. You can use the public web interface in several languages or install the components yourself. It suits DNS operators, registries and domain owners.
Strengths
- Tests the whole delegation path from the root down
- Includes DNSSEC checks
- Can be installed and run on your own servers
- Web interface available in several languages
Limitations
- Focused on DNS delegation, not email or web checks
- Reports assume some DNS knowledge to act on
