- Several machines can back up to one bucket and share deduplicated data with no server between them
- Chunks are stored individually, so any storage with basic file operations works as a backend

- Content-defined chunking that survives files being renamed, moved or shifted around
- Authenticated AES encryption, so an untrusted backup server only ever sees ciphertext
