About CoreELEC
CoreELEC is a 'just enough OS' Linux distribution built around Kodi for devices with Amlogic chips, from older S905 boards to the newer S905X5. It uses the hardware video decoder for formats including H.264, H.265, VP9 and AV1, and can pass through lossless audio such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA and Dolby Atmos.
On certain devices it also supports common Dolby Vision profiles. Releases track Kodi versions, with a 22.0 beta published in September 2026.
