About DistroShelf

DistroShelf is a graphical interface for Distrobox, the tool that runs other Linux distributions in containers that integrate with your desktop. It lets you create and manage containers from a GTK4 window instead of typing Distrobox commands.

It is written in Rust and ships a Flatpak manifest. It suits Linux users, especially on immutable distributions, who use Distrobox to install software from other distributions and prefer a point-and-click way to handle their containers.

Strengths

  • Graphical front end for Distrobox
  • Native GTK4 interface
  • Flatpak packaging available

Limitations

  • Linux only
  • Requires Distrobox and a container engine to be installed
