Eric is a Python editor and IDE written in Python, based on the Qt toolkit and the Scintilla editor control. The current version, eric7, uses PyQt6 and Python 3. It offers configurable syntax highlighting, autocompletion, calltips, folding, project-wide search and replace, a class browser and an integrated debugger.
Mercurial, Subversion and Git support ship as core plug-ins, along with collaboration features such as chat and a shared editor. A plug-in system extends it further. It suits Python developers who want a full IDE that is itself written in Python.
