About GIMP
GIMP is a cross-platform raster editor with layers, masks, selections, paths, a full set of paint and retouch tools, colour management and scripting. Version 3 brought a GTK3 interface, non-destructive filters and much better paste and multi-layer handling.
It is free software in the strict sense: you can read the source, change it and pass it on. A large plugin and script ecosystem extends it, and it runs on Linux, macOS and Windows.
