About GParted
GParted creates, deletes, resizes, moves, checks and copies partitions and the filesystems on them. It understands ext2 through ext4, XFS, Btrfs, NTFS, FAT, HFS+ and a long list of others, and it is the usual answer when you need to make room for a second operating system.
Resizing a mounted system partition is not possible, so the project ships GParted Live: a small bootable ISO that runs from a USB stick with nothing on the disk in use. The ISO also works for rescuing a machine that will not start.
