About Metabase
Metabase connects to your databases and lets people explore the data through a visual query builder, a SQL editor and shareable dashboards. Its newer AI features answer questions in plain language and base each answer on a semantic layer of defined metrics and business logic, so you can inspect the query behind a result.
You can self-host the open-source edition or use the company's paid cloud service. It also offers permissions, data segregation, CSV upload, drill-through and an embedding SDK for adding analytics to other products. It suits teams that want self-service reporting without asking an engineer for every query.
