Photo Mechanic covers the first stage of a photographer's workflow: copying images off memory cards, viewing them quickly, and picking the keepers by rating and culling. Its tools for adding captions, keywords and copyright to embedded metadata came from news and sports photographers working to tight deadlines.
It does not try to replace a RAW editor. Instead it is designed to hand images on to other post-processing tools, and it includes export features for delivering finished photos. It suits professionals who shoot large volumes and need to sort and tag them fast.
